Asked what is “sinful,” the 67-year-old reality show star said, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
Some people were outraged by his comments and say the suspension is justified. Some fans, on the other hand, are rallying to his defense and demanding that A&E reinstate Robertson.
“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series ‘Duck Dynasty,'”A&E said in a statement to Variety magazine. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community.”
Among those supporting Robertson was Sarah Palin, the former vice presidential candidate, who tweeted: “Free speech is endangered species; those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ & taking on Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing personal opinion take on us all.”
