“Band of Sisters” tells the story of Catholic Sisters and their work for social justice in the 50 years after Vatican II, as they were transformed from sheltered “daughters of the Church” into citizens of the world. The film follows the story of Sisters from different orders across the U.S. in their work for civil rights, immigration reform, environmental justice, and a host of otehr causes. Among those featured are Adrian Dominican Sisters Carol Coston and Elise Garcia, and their previous work at Santuario Sisterfarm in Boerne, Texas, and Sister Pat Siemen, at the Center for Earth Jurisprudence at St. Ahomas University, Miami Gardens, Florida.
Mary Fishman, director, will be in attendance and will lead an audience discussion afterwards. The event is open to the public; a free will offering will be accepted. Adance registration is requested. Call 517-266-4000.
