SDEROT, Israel -- More than 500 new olim (immigrants) from Ethiopia celebrated on Thursday (Nov. 29) as they inaugurated a new Torah scroll at the Jewish Agency for Israel’s Ibim Absorption Center, near Sderot. Just last week, the olim had sat in bomb shelters and protected rooms in Israel due to the threat of rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.
