Holocaust survivor tells her story to high school students

From the deepest, darkest depths of human history, a tiny spark of love escaped. Her name is Paula Marks-Bolton, and the 87-year-old Holocaust survivor believes God wanted her to live so she could share her story with future generations.

The gift of a good death

Four and a half years ago we received the news that my father-in-law was dying of esophageal cancer. We heard the news at our grandfather's funeral. So, while grieving the loss of one well-loved man, we were simultaneously projecting ahead to the loss of another well-loved man. ‘Good Grief’ group to offer help for children

A group of concerned citizens is banding together to start a nonprofit organization, Good Grief of Northwest Ohio, to help children cope with the thoughts and feelings they experience after the death of a loved one. Among those helping Good Grief get started is Kaye Lani Raye Rafko-Wilson, the 1988 Miss America who lives in Monroe, Mich.

Shouldn’t we honor a dying wish?

She was 97 years old, very frail and near her dying day. She received hospice care at home because her dying wish was to die in her own bed, her own house. Her family made it a priority to honor her dying wish. Jesus made a dying wish, in John 17:11. Shouldn't Jesus' followers strive to honor that dying wish?

Drones cause harm beyond physical injury

On Nov. 30 my friend, Iowa peace activist Brian Terrell, presented himself to the Federal Prison Camp at Yankton, S.D., to begin serving a six-month sentence for a protest against drones. He was convicted of trespassing at Missouri’s Whiteman Air Force Base to protest the use of armed, unmanned military drones.
