As Holocaust Museum turns 20, the ranks of survivors dwindle

WASHINGTON (RNS) Adult survivors of the Holocaust are largely gone, and those who survived as children won’t be around much longer. That’s why when the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum marks its 20th anniversary Monday, museum officials say it’s likely to be one the last large gatherings of survivors.

Myrlie Evers-Williams: Inauguration timing is a ‘miracle’

(RNS) Myrlie Evers-Williams, 79, the widow of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, will be the first laywoman to give an invocation at a presidential inauguration when she prays at President Obama’s swearing-in on Jan. 21. The author, civil rights and political activist and former NAACP chairman talked with Religion News Service about upcoming events.
