Poll: Should governement meetings start with a prayer or a moment of silence?
Local government bodies have wrestled at times with whether to start their meetings with prayer. The Bedford Township (Mich.) Board recently voted for a moment of silence instead of a nonsectarian prayer, saying that it did not want to risk offending anyone or face the threat of legal costs if sued. One board member noted that the U.S. Congress starts its sessions with prayer. Do you think a moment of silence, a generalized prayer, or nothing of the sort is the best option for starting government meetings?
