It’s especially important during this busy and stressful time that one should push one’s self to take more time to foster a relationship with God. This is a great challenge, indeed, but an important one if one is to actually remember the spirit of the season.

Well, here we are ... elections over ... Thanksgiving is past ... survived another Black Friday, or maybe a grey Thursday ... whatever that was. Now on to Christmas! Or the holiday season, if we are keeping up with the politically correct police. I suppose at some point we could remind people that the “holiday” we are singing our new “holiday” songs to is ... Christmas.

December, for most Americans, brings a special season of extended commercialism, holiday anticipation and, close to its end, an opportunity for spiritual gratitude. Whatever its origins, the Christmas season is one that successfully combats the annual growing darkness with the brightness of song, color, gifts and family celebration. For Jews, the season brings a serious distortion of one of its important historic-religious observances.
