Saint Meinrad Archabbey is a monastic community of Benedictine monks, located in southern Indiana in the town of St. Meinrad (pop. 850), near the towns of Jasper, Ferdinand, Santa Claus and Siberia.
The Roman Catholic community has 88 monks as of February, 2013, and runs a seminary with 150 students studying for the priesthood and 100 laypersons studying religion, philosophy and theology. A number of monks at Saint Meinrad hail from Toledo and northwest Ohio, and the seminary has had a long tradition of educating Toledo priests. There are now five seminarians from the Toledo Catholic Diocese studying at Saint Meinrad seminary.
David Yonke, Editor of Toledo Faith & Values (ToledoFAVS.com), spent three days at St. Meinrad in February, 2013, making this video and writing an article for Toledo Faith & Values about the experience.

David, You visited the place I was able to spend 5 wonderful years at. I’m glad you were able to soak it in.

Well done, David! You’ve definitely “captured” the spirit of the place—as much as anything can “capture” it. For those who have yet to be “captured” themselves by the spirit of Saint Meinrad: “Come and see!”
